CLOTHING retailer Jack’s of PNG is proud to have two women lead its new shop in Port Moresby, an official says.
Retail operations manager Ashish Kumar said after opening its sixth shop inside the Stop & Shop supermarket in Rainbow that Jack’s would also opened several shops next year, creating more employment for the venture and the City Pharmacy Ltd (CPL) Group.
Vagi Kome Araga and Romelda Simeon will manage 13 sales assistant at the Rainbow shop.
Jack’s currently has 120 staff nationwide and has invested K400,000 in the new shop.
CPL’s Navin Raju said: “For the first time we are appointing Papua New Guinean women to manage this shop.
“These two ladies are the managers of this shop and we are proud of the impact CPL is making.”
Romelda began her journey in October 2017.
“I had the opportunity to transition into different roles like head of department ladies, floor supervisor, training floor manager and customer service manager,” she said.
“Each challenge molded me into a stronger and an independent person and every day I would tell myself that one fine day I will be recognised for the hard work I have done.
“I stand here as one of the first female managers and I hope to strongly influence everyone here.”
Romelda thanked the company for the recognition and hoped her story would influence other young women to be confident.
