Jail commanders sign performance deal

A PERFORMANCE agreement was signed by 22 Correctional Services jail commanders who gathered for a two-day workshop in Port Moresby yesterday on the year’s annual activity plan.
The workshop concluded with the commanders signing a performance agreement outlining each planned activity.
Assistant commissioner for planning and policy David Sonagu said the commanders agreed to implement the plans they had outlined.
“The performance agreement is a formality of the implementation of our activity plan for the year,” he said.
“If a commanding officer has three activities, then we have to check all the three activities and see if he is actually implementing it.” Activities include programmes or projects to better maintain or improve the status of existing prison institutions around the country.
“If they are not on track, then there are issues surrounding those activities such as resources or environment so that’s what we are getting them to do,” Sonagu said.
