THE visit to Papua New Guinea by the chief executive of Portek Systems and Equipment will consolidate the company’s partnership deal with PNG Ports Corporation Ltd (PNGPCL).
Takao Omori will analyse how Portek has helped with the port facilities.
PNG Ports said the partnership was benefiting PNG ports because the equipment such as rubber tyre gantry cranes supplied by Portek and the newly-introduced Portek terminal operating system (TOS) had boosted the operations resulting in quicker and efficient flow of cargo and vessels.
“Under this partnership, we expect the combined port equipment, port information technology and port management practices provided by Portek would transform our terminals in Lae and Port Moresby into high performance container terminals, benefiting our clients, stakeholders and ultimately the economy of PNG,” PNG Ports said.
The Portext team will visit Port Moresby and Lae ports for a first hand view of the port’s operations.
