Jica awards 15 postgraduate scholarships

FIFTEEN government officials have successfully passed a screening processes to pursue studies at Japanese universities, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (Jica) says.
The agency said in a statement that this was an increase in successful applicants for its 2022 scholarship programme.
“Jica PNG office will work closely with respective training officials from all government agencies at the national and the sub-national level, higher education and research institutions to ensure that applications from all eligible entities are received in a timely manner,” it said.
“Jica also continues to encourage eligible female applicants to apply for the available scholarship programme such as Sustainable Development Goal Global Leader, Kizuna that are provided every year.”
According to Jica, three participants from Mineral Resources Authority will study for masters and doctoral degrees under the human resources development in mining sector (Kizuna) scholarship programme while 12 participants from various government agencies will pursue their masters and doctoral studies under the SDGs Global Leader scholarship programme.
Jica said it was keen to enhance PNG’s human resource which would contribute to the sustainable development of the country.
