JIWAKA will administer its own land transport traffic office and enforce traffic laws.

This follows the official delegation of the functions and responsibilities of the Traffic registry and Provincial Land Transport Board to the provincial administration by Transport Minister Ano Pala and secretary Roy Mumu.

The Organic Law on Provincial and Local Level Government enables the delegation of such functions and responsibilities to the provinces.

The provinicial administration can now process the registration of vehicles and conduct roadworthiness checks.

Pala said people in Jiwaka could register their vehicles in the province instead of going to Mt Hagen.
