Jiwaka group urges people to vote wisely
The National, Monday May 14th 2012
JIWAKA people have been urged to elect honest and transparent leaders who can manage the province well – similar to the administrators in the 1970s and 80s.
The Jiwaka Elite Youth Group, made up of educated people and professionals from Jiwaka, are of the view that the new province had been regressing since the demise of the Waghi council and the world renowned Waghi Mek Plantation.
In a press statement, the group said it was not too late to turn things around for the province and move it forward again.
The Waghi council administration in the 1970s saw Dinghan Gispe become one of the most powerful administrators at that time.
The group said the administration during the 70s and 80s worked closely with the people at the community level and it managed the delivery of government services and featured a high-level of respect for councillors, magistrates and village elders.
That administration founded the Waghi Mek plantation which operated on a K30 million cash flow.
It collapsed after the de-establishment of the administration.
It believes that current leaders had failed to achieve that status as the core concepts were not understood by them.
It is now urging and educating people to vote in true leaders who have the people at heart.
