Jiwaka stands by school postings
JIWAKA’s teacher postings have followed right processes and procedures as the concerned parties have endorsed the appointments, provincial education adviser Erwin Us says.
He said every party legally appointed to take part in the postings was there to make sure they were done properly. PNG Teachers’ Association (PNGTA) Highlands regional secretary John Melson has called on the national education board to dissolve the Jiwaka board claiming the postings were not done properly.
Melson said his office had received reports that 22 serving teachers had no appointment.
He said the lack of consultation by the Jiwaka board had caused the problem.
But Us, who is also the chairman of the Jiwaka board, said PNGTA representatives Betty Wena and Michael Mara from the selection panel were present when the appointments were made.
Us called on Melson to speak his two PNGTA representatives in Jiwaka to check the information.
“We were rated top in the country in October last year by Department of Education team leader Michael Paska in teachers’ postings,” Us said.
“PNG Teachers’ Assocation’s regional secretary John Melson should check on his two representatives in the province so they will give him the right information if postings were done properly or not.”
