Jiwaka voters assured of safe counting environment

Assistant deputy police commissioner and Eastern End Commander  Nema Mondiai   has assured Jiwaka people of a safe and fair vote-counting process.
The assistant commissioner told candidates, supporters and counting officials yesterday at Banz before ballot boxes were brought into the counting venue that security forces would make sure counting was transparent as well.
He warned candidates not to bribe security forces.
Addressing candidates for the three electorates and provincial seat Mondiai said: “We have delivered successful polling for Chimbu, Jiwaka and Western Highlands and so we (security forces) are committed on that same focus to ensure a fair and safe counting.
“I ask you all to cooperate with our PPC Joseph Tondop because we can’t waste any more time.
Mondiai said that Chief Superintendent Joe Poma, from Konedobu police headquarters, was delegated to Jiwaka to assist Tondop during counting.
Counting started yesterday.
