THE Foundation for Rural Development (FORD) continues to reach out into rural areas giving free wheelchairs to disabled people.

Last Friday, an Oil Search Ltd security officer, Jeff Gadna, had approached the FORD Inc to help a disabled woman, Pawa Simon Tolmon, who was in her mid 30s.

Gadna provided FORD data and photographs of Tolmon, who hails from the remote Magin village, Jimi, in Jiwaka.

Tolmon was born with cerebral palsy and had been bed-ridden for most of her life.

Her village is a two-day walk from Tabibuga station through the gorges to Jimi River.

For the first time, she could now use the wheelchair to move around.
