THE Joint Forces Academy (JFA) in Lae is conducting its last phase training for its final year PNG Defence Force (PNGDF) and Correctional Service (CS) cadets.
JFA officer cadet training wing senior instructor Major Francis Mesa said there were two phases of the training.
He said the first phase had started on Sunday which was mainly conventional operation where the cadets would be operating within their close country environment, mainly in the bush.
“They will be there for seven days and then transition into urban operations which will go for another seven days,” he said.
“In the first seven days, they will be doing defensive and offensive close country operations.”
Major Mesa said the exercise, Exercise Last Chance, was expected to be completed on May 14.
Of the 40 cadets, there were only two females, one each from PNGDF and CS.
