MAS Australasia Pty Ltd (MAS) yesterday signed a deal with Hides Gas Resources Ltd (HGRL) to form a joint venture company training local manpower.
The newly-formed venture company will mainly provide scaffolding services to the PNG LNG pro-jects as agreed by both parties.
Training and hiring of local manpower will be carried out  during the construction phase of the project.
The memorandum of agreement was signed by Dave Gilbert, general manager for Eastern Australia and Asia Pacific and Willy Wandiya, chairman of the HGRL at a ceremony held at Fu Gui Restaurant in Port Moresby.
MAS provides scaffolding and associated services in both construction and maintenance activities for major projects in the oil and gas, minerals and industrial sectors.
Based in Australia, MAS has operations in Singapore and Thailand.
Wandiya described the small ceremony as “significant” and “historic” for the landowners in the HGRL.
“We are creating a history to become a joint partner in human resource development and technical expertise to support the project.
“At the end of the life span of project, HGRL hope to export their local products to other parts of the world,” he said.
Raewyn Pene, the operation manager of Brunel International who earlier signed the agreement to provide training for human resources in the gas project region, said she was happy to be associated with the landowner group.
