A NATIONAL Court judge has ordered the arrest of a man who failed to turn up in court to be sentenced for misappropriation.
Justice Danajo Koeget issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Christopher Hulape.
He directed the investigating officer and the National Capital District metropolitan superintendent to execute the warrant.
Christopher Hulape, from Gulf, was charged with misappropriating nearly K1.5 million paid by Department of Planning and Monitoring for a fishery project.
It was alleged that Eopi Co-operation Society Ltd was to develop a fishery project in Vailala West village in Ihu, Gulf. Hulape was the chairman and a signatory to the account.
The application on behalf of Eopi was submitted to the department and the payment was made to the Eopi Co-operated Society account on March 1, 2011.
Between July 9 and Oct 29, 2011, sums were withdrawn by Hulape for persons or companies purported to be suppliers of services to Eopi Co-operation Society Ltd .
Police found out that there was no fishery project at the site and the project was never delivered to Eopi Co-operation Society Ltd.
