Judges sworn in at Government House

THE Government House was filled to capacity with family members who turned up to witness the swearing-in of three judges yesterday morning.
Justice Sao Gabi, Justice John Kawi and Justice Regina Sagu were sworn into office before Governor-General Sir Paulias Matane.
Out of the three judges, Mr Kawi from Madang province was sworn in with the longest term of 10 years in office.
Mr Gabi from Central province was sworn into office for another five years and Ms Sagu from Enga province will be serving for a year.
Mr  Kawi was sworn-in as the judge of the Supreme and National court while Mr Gabi and Ms Sagu were reappointed.
Ms Sagu, who returned from a court circuit in Wewak, said she was pleased with the swearing-in and she would be giving her best during her term.
“Our duty is about doing the job correctly and fairly as it is people’s lives we are dealing with,” she said.
