Judicial services launched in district
The National, Wednesday February 18th, 2015
IT is a relief for police in Aitape-Lumi that the district has finally launched a National Court circuit.
It was launched in Aitape on Monday and the district administrator, John Ainep, acknowledged the presence of Justice Iova Geita.
“It is a special occasion and a milestone for the people of Aitape, Lumi and Nuku,” Ainep said. He thanked the Government for bringing the service.
Ainep said a piece of land had been identified and would be set aside for court facilities to be established there.
Geita said his shift to Aitape was not a mistake and that he wanted to see the court established there for a long time.
He thanked Aitape-Lumi MP Patrick Pruaitch and the Government for giving the judiciary enough money to establish district circuits.
He said people deserved court services.
“The national and district courts are not here to punish, people will only be punished if they break the country’s laws.”
Geita urged people to respect law and order in the province, village and society and that people should have respect for one another.
