ORO Governor Gary Juffa has managed to calm down members of his tribe who tried to raid the village of men suspected of shooting his driver.

He has asked Prime Minister Peter O’Neill and the Government to intervene and address the law and order issue in the province.

He had to calm down his tribesmen who had hijacked New Britain Palm Oil trucks and were preparing to storm the village of the suspects.

They stole a Government vehicle. He visited his injured driver, Tony Torovi, in hospital.

He urged his tribesmen to return the trucks, release the crew members, return to their villages and wait for the police to deal with the matter.

He told them to respect the law and not to destroy property or injure people.

The matter is being investigated by the police who know the identities of the suspects.

The stolen vehicle was found abandoned and the suspects nowhere to be seen.

The Isivini community have pledged their support to help arrest the suspects.

They have welcomed the move to fight crime as they too were tired of seeing criminal elements in their community.

Juffa said: “The criminals have been given notice to surrender. The community is working together to do that and have had enough of crime and are enjoying a quiet and safe peaceful Oro unlike the cowboy town of the past. Crime will not be tolerated by Oro people.”
