JUHA landowner companies involved in the early works at the LNG project site have missed out on K11 million in business development grants.
The funds were subject of concerns raised by Maprik MP and former commerce and industry minister Gabriel Kapris in parliament last week.
Kapris said 59 cheques were issued on Monday, April 7, by the secretary for Commerce and Industry against a National Executive Council decision that directions for payments must be given by the NEC.
Kapris said more than 10 cheques from the 59 issued were not honoured because directions for payments must come from cabinet.
Juha Landowner Association chairman Hengebe Haluja said expressed concern at politicians making up listing for the BDG.
Haluja called on the Department of Commerce and Industry to publish in the media the full list of which landowner groups had benefited and how much BDG was paid to each.
“Landowners doing early works on the ground have missed out on the BDG payments because politicians have been involved in drawing up the lists,” he said.
“The politician involved in drawing up the list must explain to the people which groups received funding, as most landowner groups are still in the dark on whether the BDG has been paid.”
Haluja said Juha had  six blocks and each had its own separate landowner company that had made project funding submissions but had not received any BDG funds
