JUHA Landowners Association chairman Hengebe Haluja has called on “paper landowners” in Port Moresby to stop issuing misleading media statements to cause anxiety to the LNG project.
Haluja said legitimate landowners had been recognised by the state and developer ExxonMobil, which was in an advanced stage of the construction phase of the LNG project.
“I am the legitimate chairman of the Juha Landowners Association and that is the umbrella association of the PDL 9 area,” Haluja said.
He said he was the team leader behind the ExxonMobil business concept for early works by the umbrella landowner company – Juha Joint Venture Ltd – that started early works on March 31, 2010.
“I am leading that company that represents 43 clans who are shareholders of Juha JV Ltd.
Haluja was responding to an advertisement in The National yesterday by John Wapi Sala accusing Haluja of bullying tactics with Juha PDL 9 to gain popularity to satisfy his interests.
