Juni wins championship

PNG Bowling sensation Peter Juni won the 2016 men’s National Fours bowling championship in Goroka last Sunday.
Juni ousted Lae’s Polin Pomaleu 16-15 in a tie breaker after extra hands. They ended 15-all to go for extra hands in which PNG’s champion bowler managed to get away with an extra point. Goroka’s prominent bowlers Leslie Hoffman, Solomon Siale and Peter Hoffman accompanied Juni in the men’s four to win this year’s title.
Goroka BowlingPresident of Goroka Bowling Club Wilson Unua thanked bowlers from other centres that travelled into Goroka to take part in the championship. He congratulated winners Goroka and the runner up team from Lae who proved to be better sides in the championships.
“I thank the sponsors for coming out good to provide needed sponsorship for without them we would not have achieved this result.” Unua commended the participation of business leaders in Goroka in the likes of Leslie Hoffman and Henry Ame of Coffee Connections.
He also acknowledged participation of seven teams from the Port Moresby which made the championship the biggest so far.
Participant and sponsor Leslie Hoffman also thanked clubs that participated in the two days championship.
He said they played to keep the spirit of bowling rolling in PNG and appreciated Port Moresby for fielding seven teams. Centres that took part were Lae, Bulolo, Goroka, Mt Hagen and Port Moresby.
