Just Play runs training course to enhance programme
By HENRY MORABANG
A FOUR-day Just Play coordinators refresher training is currently underway at Ela Beach Hotel, Port Moresby.
Programme coordinator Emmie Sope said this was a follow-up of the Just Play coordinator’s train-the-trainer course done in January last year.
She said due to the popularity and growth of the Just Play programme in Papua New Guinea and the Oceania region, it was important to incorporate capacity-building as a sports-for-development tool to equip Just Play coordinators to effectively deliver a teachers and volunteers course to enhance the growth.
It has its’ focus centred on the potential of the Just Play coordinators in PNG who have the capacity to rollout the programme within each PNGFA respective member association.
The Just Play programme is currently held in Madang, Bougainville, NCD-POM, Wabag, Goroka, Kimbe and Chimbu.
She said the course content had been adapted accordingly to assess the current status of the programme in each region, identify the challenges and issues that affect the implementation of the programme, and generate solutions of how this can be improved through the adaptation and contribution of each Just Play Coordinator to the PNGFA Just Play work plan for May to September this year. Sope said by the end the course, the coordinators will be able to:
- Understand the Just Play logic model and how it is linked to their role in providing an effective course;
- understand their roles as trainers and coordinators; and be
- competent instructors.
