Justice sector, wards get new vehicles

POLICE and Correctional Services and wards in Lae received vehicles from the Lae district development authority (DDA) and Lae city authority (LCA) yesterday.
Six vehicles were presented to the justice sector and two vehicles to two wards in Lae and one to the city’s hand-up programme.
A total of nine vehicles costing more than K1.6 million were presented-three to police, one to magisterial services, two to Correctional Services, one each to wards two and four of Lae Urban local level government and one to the LCA’s hand-up programme.
The vehicles were funded under the district improvement programme funds according to Lae DDA chief executive officer Robin Calistus.
International Container Terminal Services Inc general manager and board member for LCA George Gware urged the recipients to look after the assets and use them wisely.
“The DDA is focusing on the solution to issues in the province,” Gware said.
He said that the vehicles presented to the justice sector and the others was to help in solving issues especially law and order, in the province.
