A NEW double-storey classroom worth K1.5 million will be built at the Busu Secondary School in Lae, Morobe, thanks to Digicel Foundation.
Foundation chief executive officer Serena Sasingian said the investment was from Digicel PNG through the Digicel Foundation which aimed to support quality education.
“It is globally recognised that investing in quality education has brought economic and social benefits and it is the foundation for socio-economic development in any nation,” she said.
She added that Digicel was not only about communication but to bring development to communities.
Busu Secondary School principal George Noble said it was the most the school had ever received from a donor.
“No other organisation has assisted the school with such an amount of money and the school’s board, management, staff and students are grateful for the support,” he said.
Noble said the foundation had decided to assist the school because of its positive reputation, good management and academic performance.
