A K10 million Peter O’Neill Administration Building at the Enga Teachers’ College was opened last Friday.
Public Service Minister Sir Puka Temu did the honours.
Sir Puka described the building as the first of its type.
He said such a building helped provide quality education.
Sir Puka said such development came about because of good stable political leadership.
He said it was through Governor Sir Peter Ipatas’ free education programme which he initiated since taking office 20 years ago that many Engans were occupying big positions in government departments and State-owned entities.
Sir Puka urged new teachers to provide quality education.
“We expect the teachers to give the best to our kids and groom them to become good citizens,” he said.
Sir Peter said the Government allocated K5 million and his provincial government allocated another K5 million from the provincial service improvement programme funds for the building.
He said it was fitting that the new building was named after O’Neill because he had done a lot for Enga over the last four years. College principal Michael Homingu thanked the Government and Sir Peter for  funding the new building. The building includes facilities such as a conference room and computer lab.
