TEN million kina will be parked under East New Britain Savings and Loan Society (ENBSLS) by the end of next year to continue with its small to medium enterprise (SME) programme in the province.
Governor Nakikus Konga said people engaged in SMEs could be empowered through accessing financial grants parked at ENBSLS.
“I now assure the people of the province that by the end of next year we will have K10 million parked away with the ENBSLS so the people can go and borrow money to support their small businesses,” he said.
“I must admit, it has not been an easy task for me, especially with the economical and financial constraints the nation is going through, which was a burden on service delivery in the province.
“But the challenges that I endured has only strengthen my faith in God and I pray that through His guidance, I will continue to deliver to you my people.”
Konga urged the people to continue working their coconut blocks and food gardens to support their families during the tough economic times.
He also called on people not to come to the provincial administration and ask for handouts but to use their resources and land to generate income and opportunities.
