THE annual Children’s Christmas feast is set for December 15 at the Konedobu Oval in Port Moresby and the organisers have raised K110,000 for the event.
The event, which was initiated by a group of women in 2014, was aimed at bringing joy and Christmas spirit to the underprivileged children in NCD.
Children’s Christmas Feast Committee chairman Elisa Cragnolini told The National that a fundraising dinner last Thursday had enabled them to prepare for the feast.
“The committee raised over K110,000 through table sales, raffle tickets and auction,” Cragnolini said.
“All the funds will go towards organising the Children’s Christmas Feast event.”
“The committee fundraises each year to host this event.”
Cragnolini said in 2014 the committee fed 900 children and each year since then the committee has fed more and more children.
“Last year, the committee fed 3100 children and this year it aims to feed 3500 children.
“Along with the feeding, the committee puts on a show for the kids each year involving various musicians, dancers and performers.”
