The landmark K12 million three-storey Fresh Produce Development Agency building in Goroka will be completed by the end of next year, says general manager Mark Worinu.
Speaking in Goroka on Friday, Worinu gave an update on the building being built by Chinese contractor Guangdong Foreign Construction Company.
The company has also been involved in building up accommodation at the University of Goroka and facilities at University of Natural Resources and Environment in East New Britain.
Work started in June after the ground-breaking ceremony.
“Work on the new FPDA head office is progressing very well,” Worinu told The National.
“Forty (40) per cent of the work has already been completed. The foundation has been completed.
“We have already agreed in principle that the construction will start in the next two weeks with material already having arrived from China.
“The construction period is 18 months, with six months already done, which means that we will use all of 2018 to complete it.”
Worinu said the new building would house FPDA’s head office as well as being rented out.
