OXFORD First Aid Supply has come to the aid of next month’s 48th PNG Medical Symposium in Port Moresby with a timely presentation of K12,000.
Oxford managing director Jeno Aeno presented the money to the chairman of the symposium organising committee Dr David Mokela and fellow organiser Dr Philip Golpak.
Mokela said the money was very much needed as the symposium from Sept 2-7 at the Gateway Hotel was expecting more than 600 participants from in and out of the country.
“I want to say thank you very much,” he told Aeno. We’re struggling to raise funds at the moment.
“With only two weeks to go, we’re trying to ask the government for help.”
Aeno said the symposium was for a good cause and his nationally owned company was more than happy to help.
“The resolutions that they make are for the good of this country,” Aeno said.
“We should all chip in and help because it comes back to helping the people, especially the rural people of PNG.”
Mokela said the theme for this year’s symposium was “Natural Resource Development and its Impact on Health Services in PNG”.
“We are a non-profit organisation and we depend on donations from companies like Oxford,” he said.
“The symposium is an annual activity organised by the Medical Society of PNG.”
“We are inviting  speakers from overseas.”
