THE Western highlands provincial executive council last Friday passed a K136 million budget.
The K135,833,200 budget targeted projects and activities initiated by the provincial government last year.
This year’s budget saw an increase of K11,540,400 compared to last year’s budget.
Governor Tom Olga told the provincial executive council that the budget was in line with the national government’s Vision 2050, the medium-term development strategy and policies of the provincial government.
Olga said it was not an election budget but one of service-delivery.
This would include the reconstruction of the provincial headquarters building, Kapal Haus, Mt Hagen city re-development, the tertiary school fees subsidy scheme and the provincial health authority where doctors would continue to serve in rural areas.
