STUDENTS attending Lanku Primary School in the Baubake constituency, Buin district, South Bougainville, have every reason to celebrate.
That follows the opening of a new double classroom last Friday by the Minister for Bougainville Affairs and South Bougainville MP Steven Pirika Kamma.
The K150,000 building, which will house the upper primary students, was funded by Kamma.
During the opening ceremony, students’ representative Steven Otto said they were very proud of their new classrooms.
“We, the students, are very glad with these new classrooms.
“We want to thank Steven Pirika for funding us with these new classrooms,” Otto said.
Other speakers thanked Kamma for funding the construction of the new building.
They said Kamma was the first elected leader to come to the aid of the school.
Kamma challenged the board of management, teachers, parents and citizens of Lanku primary school to always have a vision on what they wanted to do and achieve.
“If you do not have a vision, you cannot make anything.
“You must have a vision to achieve what you want to do, like building a house or a business.
“If you have a vision you will change everything,” Kamma said.
He stressed the importance of education, saying without a good education people would find it hard to survive.
