K18,000 help for Kaore
AN online fundraising drive has so far raised more than K18,300 (A$5,300) to help cover the medical costs of Papua New Guinea boxer and rugby sevens international Debbie Kaore following an alleged attack by her partner, army Lieutenant Murray Oa, last week.
National boxing team assistant coach Peter Morrison set up a GoFundMe page, a free online fundraising platform, to assist the 2015 Pacific Games gold medallist.
“Do we want this cycle to continue or do we want to put a stamp on it right there and then for those kids and get themselves into a safe environment where they can be taught the right ways and have some hopefully positive influence in their lives moving forward,” Morrison said.
“So let’s get her into a safe spot.
“There’s no doubt she’s probably going to have legal costs or there will be some sort of ongoing battle with this.
“The more that you follow the comment threads on some of the social media around this it just really blows my mind how entrenched the whole culture of domestic violence is.
“I keep saying if we can save one woman or make one woman or one family safer just by doing it, we’ve had a bit of a win.
“There’s a long way to go but you’ve got to start somewhere.”
Meanwhile, the PNGOC Olympic Committee also held a fundraising drive for Kaore in Port Moresby on Tuesday. – RNZ

There are millions of other more decent PNG women who need money (probably more than this woman). Maybe Morrison can help them too.
let the legal systems deal with the case and see who is to be blame, however I believe the gender equity has given some imbalance to our cultural identity and even to an extend religiously. either of the opposite sex take advantage of this situation and create havoc among families Knowing that one way or another they will be protected, that’s only my opinion no scientific evidence.
Why was she punched by her good husband? She needs to come out and tell us the truth so we can donate money for a good course. Other wise she deserved it and should keep her mouth shut. I guess it is not because of adulterous actions…..
Waste of money put into wrong activities.
Women folks are taking advantage of violence against women law and doing unfaithful behaviors outside of marriage or say they have multiples partners outside of their marriage. Please, Investigate course of the incident and judge accordingly so the gender equity is balanced on decision making. The more law take sides on other side, the more the problem escalates.
There is more to this story….why not raised fund for all other DV cases in PNG…….
Peter Morrison can you not raise these funds towards the National Boxing team, as you are always coming out calling for financial assistance everytime when the team prepares to travel. I don’t see this fund raising as a worthy cause.
Only through a fair trial in court of law will we ALL know what actually happened. To all those who are negative; We should not be assuming marital affairs may have been the cause. It could be from another cause, who knows. We have sisters, mothers and daughters too and hurting someone that bad is not good, therefore we all should comment with some sense of understanding. Assumption on what may have triggered such action is also not appropriate.
Since funding of K18,000 have been raised by people to support our unfortunate sister, it would be a good idea that these fundraising is justified hence, I strongly feel that all MEDIA STREAMS MUST CONTINUE to update everyone of us regarding this particular case all the way through to passing of judgment.
Evidence presented on both sides from both the husband and wife including witnesses would certainly clear the air and at-least give us the peace of mind.
Judges and Magistrates who will be presiding on this issue should priorities this case due to high publicity so that truth can be unfolded. God bless us all!
