THE K35 million upgrade and sealing of the last 39km section of the Boluminski Highway is set to be completed by the end of this year, Dekenai Construction says.
This would make it the longest highway in Papua New Guinea and the Pacific.
Landowners Obed Tigen and Matuan Siuta said this was the first time in the New Ireland government’s history that such a huge funding had been pumped into major infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges and jetties.
“This is a milestone achievement for the province,” they said in a statement.
“We thank Sir Julius for his effort to push for the last phase of the Boluminski Highway upgrade and sealing.
“We also thank him for the sealing work at the southern end along the Lanzarotte Highway from Punam to Manmo in Namatanai.”
