FOUR major projects in East New Britain province were awarded more than K4.3 million by the provincial supply tenders board (PSTB) on Monday.
The projects include the Palmalmal rural health centre, Pomio resource centre, purchasing of educational curriculum materials and a multi-purpose Backhoe for use in the province.
PSTB chairman Aquila Tubal announced that the costly project among the four is the Palmalmal rural health centre which would be built by Chinese state company, Jiangsu International at the cost of K2 million.
The K2 million  Palmalmal project includes the erection of two, three-bed room house, a post-natal ward and a general ward.
He said other projects to be built in Pomio district were the construction of two resource centres that were contracted to Destiny design construction company costing over K900,000.
Funds secured for these projects were sourced from district services improvement programme (DSIP).
Mr Tubal said that Treid Pacific had been engaged to supply all educational curriculum materials for all primary schools through out the province next year and the contract was worth K900,000.
He said the Backhoe would be used in Kokopo district for road maintenance and is worth more than K300,000.
Mr Tubal added that Kokopo district has come up in a big way in purchasing machinery under its DSIP roll out programme and believed the equipment would assist mainly infrastructural developments.
