RABAUL district has approved K40 million worth of projects, including the construction of four education institutions.

The projects were approved during the Rabaul joint district planning and budget priorities committee meeting last week.

Among them is the re-introduction of classes at the St Mary’s Vuvu High School on the north coast of Rabaul.

St Mary’s has been identified to be the school of excellence in Rabaul district.

Included in the funding package are the Rabaul High School, Rabaul Vocational Centre and Rabaul Business College to substitute Rabaul Secretarial College, all located at Kurakakaul.

Approved is a K100,000 funding for the establishment of the Rabaul district coconut virgin oil project.

The youth empowerment programme and district events committee were also endorsed by the district committee.

Rabaul MP Dr Allan Marat said the committee, as the district’s main decision-making body, must narrow down on development priorities like education.
