K50,000 for synod
The National, Friday January 3rd, 2013
THE Karkar synod organising committee, responsible for the staging of another big conference of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, has benefited from a K50,000 assistance from the Morobe provincial government.
The funding, under MPG’s church partnership programme, was approved by Morobe Governor Kelly Naru yesterday on behalf of the six church districts of ELC-PNG in Morobe, which are Jabem, Kote, Siassi, Ukata, Boana and Mumeng.
This will be the 29th synod for ELC-PNG and it will be held on Karkar Island, in Madang, for a week from Jan 12.
Representatives from parishes and church districts around the country will attend to discuss and debate matters concerning one of the largest Christian church denominations in Papua New Guinea.
Synod organising committee chairman Bernard Kaisom was grateful of the financial assistance and hailed Naru’s initial support in the form of K10,000. The grant assistance was promised by Naru last year.
