SCHOOL subsidy grants totalling K58 million for terms three and four have been remitted to the bank accounts of recipients, Education Minister Jimmy Uguro says.
“The funds have been remitted to the bank accounts of flexibles, open and distance education (Fode), secondary, national high and vocational schools last Thursday,” he said.
“A total of K486.3 million was allocated for school subsidies this year.”
To date, a total of K 248.5 million had been released but only K222.5 million had been paid out. The difference of K22 million was not justified in the statement released by Uguro.
A total of K 237.8 million in subsidies was still outstanding for terms three and four.
“I want to remind all schools and administrations to use the money wisely and spend it only on priority areas that will improve teaching and learning,” Uguro said.
He called on all school boards and administrators to use some portion of the funds to support education in emergency and Wash.
