A STOREKEEPER and his friend have been ordered to pay a young girl K600 in compensation for touching her breast and then telling her she has old breasts like those of their grandmother.
In the Mt Hagen District Court yesterday, Magistrate Jacinta Doa ordered Thomas Kame and Stanley Nagi, both from Tambul in Western Highlands, to each pay K300 to Nancy James, from Mendi, Southern Highlands.
The money is to be paid within a week and the failure to do so would result in both going to jail for two months.
The incident happened on Feb 28 at around 8pm at Dobel village, along the Highlands Highway.
James told the court that she had gone to the store to buy stuff when Nagi hit her on her breast with his arm.
When she asked Nagi why he did that, Kame, who was in the store, told her to let him touch her breast because her breasts were like those of an old woman.
She said when she turned to walk to another store, Kame called her pamuk (prostitute).
James told the court that Kame and Nagi said nasty things to girls at the store. She reported them because she was tired of their behaviour, even though they were her neighbours.
Nagi denied touching James’s breast and Kame said he did not call her names.
“I called her pamuk when she says Tambul are small people who will soon be wiped out by AIDS,” he said.
They were both convicted and had their bail money of K200 refunded.
