KUMUL Telikom Holdings Limited (KTH) through its subsidiaries Telikom and bmobile has come onboard as the major sponsor for the Royal Port Moresby Golf Club in its 2021 golf pennants competition.
Acting managing director Jessie Wangua announced a sponsorship of K70, 000 yesterday which covers the award for the best player of each round, including the installation of electronic voucher credit (EVC) terminal and Wi-Fi internet access at the club.
In addition to their sponsorship, KTH will be fielding a side in this year’s golf pennants along with 10 other participating teams.
The club has been receiving sponsorship support from Telikom PNG for 11 years, however, this year marks the second year of the sponsorship agreement under the KTHL banner.
“For this year, we’ve got Telikom and bmobile as the co-sponsors going forward as part of the KTH Group,” Wangua said.
“This partnership with the Royal Port Moresby Golf Club will help give us the exposure in terms of our products within the KTH Group.”
Club president Bruce Mackinlay welcomed the inclusion of the EVC terminal and Wi-Fi internet access along with the sponsorship, saying that it would be a win-win agreement for both organisations. “The few new innovations in the agreement which Telikom have proposed like the hotspot, Wi-Fi and other products will get a lot of exposure and certainly be welcomed at the club,” Mackinlay said.
“The pennants have been going on for many years and it is our biggest event on our calendar.”
Club general manager Michael Brasier said their members were looking forward to another year of the pennants.
“There are few changes (in the pennants),” he said.
“Last year, we had 10 teams and now (with the inclusion of the KTH team) we have 11 teams.
“For every pennants match, we’ll have one team sitting out as the duty team managing the tournament.”
The first round of the pennants will tee-off on Sunday and will run for 10 rounds.
