BANK South Pacific (BSP) yesterday injected K80,000 into Papua New Guinea Swimming Incorporated (PNGSI) as part of their 17-year partnership in developing the sport in the country.
BSP deputy general manager, customer service and sales delivery, Kili Tambua acknowledged PNGSI’s contribution to swimming in the country.
“It’s been 17 exciting years since we’ve started this journey to take up sponsorship under the BSP aquatic excellence programme and also the development of young swimmers,” Tambua said. “Through this partnership, we’ve witnessed enormous growth in the development of young swimmers realising their dreams.
“BSP recognises the work put in by PNGSI and also in achieving milestones through this programme. We wish all the athletes and management a successful season next year and I hope to see you all are still shining.”
PNGSI president Elizabeth Wells praised the bank for supporting the implementation of the BSP Kundu National Excellence and the Elite Kundu programmes.
“Through their support, we have a well-established pathway in place for our developing athletes,” she said.
“These programmes provide our athletes with hope to achieve their goals.
“BSP has made it possible for PNGSI to continue its pathway programmes for our aquatic disciplines to grow.”
