Kabwum district passes K2.5mil budget

THE Kabwum joint district planning and budget priority committee has announced the 2012 budget totalling K2.5 million.
Kabwum MP and committee chairman Bob Dadae announced the budget last Friday in Lae.
He said K2 million was from the district services improvement programme and K500,000 from the district support grant.
Dadae said the grant was split evenly between the his discretionary and non-discretionary funds.
He explained that much of the improvement programme funding went towards roads while he had the flexibility of spending some of it on other prioritised areas, especially in the health and education sector in the district.
From the 2012 budget, the committee allocated:
l    K680,000 roads infrastructure construction and maintenance;
l    K800,000 to education;
l    K500,000 to health; and
l    K50,000 to water supply at the Kabwum station
Under the road infrastructure programme for the district, the committee allocated:
l    K100,000 for the Derim-Yalumet road;
l    K100,000 for the Kindagen-Nanga road;
l    K100,000 for the Kabwu-Sapuat road; and
l    K150,000 for the Wantoat-Teptep road.
From the K800,000 allocated for the education sector, Dadae said every primary school in the district would benefit.
He said from the K100,000 non-discretionary funds for education grant, K60,000 would cater for education subsidies.
The churches were allocated K100,000 with the Seventh Day Adventist church getting K40,000.
The  PAW, church of God and Revival Centres of PNG each got K20,000.
