CENTRAL’S Kairuku-Hiri will be split into two districts, Prime Minister James Marape says.
Marape was responding to the local MP Peter Isoaimo yesterday in Parliament.
“Kairuku-Hiri does qualify amongst three or four other electorates as it has the population to split into two,” Marape said without giving a possible time factor for the division.
Isoaimo asked when reports by boundaries commission awareness would be brought before the Parliament and how the Government was viewing the reports.
He wanted to know if the matter would be discussed or adjourned.
Marape assured Isoaimo that as soon as the report was processed through Cabinet, Parliament would have custody of it and Parliament would deliberate.
Isoaimo said he had raised concerns with Central Governor Robert Agarobe over splitting Kairuku-Hiri.
“It is impossible to attend to two districts at the same time,” he said.
