The Department of Personnel Management launched its two-year corporate plan on Friday.
Under the theme “promoting ethical leadership through smarter HR strategies”, the plan was launched by the department’s secretary John Kali.
Kali said the staff of the department would work towards fulfilling the plan because that was their commitment.
“I did not design this corporate plan, I did not go through the hard work of preparing and designing this document,” Kali said.
He told the staff that the corporate plan was what they had put together.
Kali said he was privileged to be the secretary of the department for the last seven years.
He vowed to take the department from strength to strength in its approach to serving country.
“One of our achievements in the last three years under the leadership of Sir Puka Temu was the introduction of performance management in the public service,” he said.
Kali said when the department completed its last (2015) cooperate plan, the challenge was what difference it could make for the next three years.
“You guys have decided that we could be smarter,” he told the staff.
The department also gave appreciation awards to 31 long-serving staff members for their loyalty and services.
