Kambori: Budget focuses on effective service delivery

NEXT year’s budget which is aimed at empowering the districts and pro­vinces was the way forward for effective service delivery in the country, former national planning secretary Valentine Kambori said in Port Moresby yesterday.
Kambori said it was time political leaders led the entire formulation of the budget, marking a new era in politics in PNG.
He said that the budget was focused on the people who deserved to be empowered and liberated.
He said the government had taken a bold step in addressing what had been lacking over the years by establishing an effective service delivery system and developing the districts and the provinces.
However, because so much money was going to the districts and the pro­vinces, policy guidelines needed to be put in place for prudent management of all the funds so as to achieve the go­vernment’s aims, he said.
“Public expenditure tied to the financial institutions with strong and effective guidelines will see the go­vernment’s visions become a reality” he said.
