Kapavore: Agriculture Sec position advertised

National

THE position of Department of Agriculture and Livestock Secretary has been advertised, Public Service Minister Elias Kapavore says.
Kapavore told The National that the term of current secretary Dr Vele Ila’ava expired this month.
“The position is already on the market, with advertisements running for one week now,” he said.
“According to our requirement, it (advertising) has to run for two weeks. It will then go through the normal process of selection and recruitment.
“I’ve advised the good minister for DAL (Benny Allan) to write a letter to me, recommending someone to act (in the position).
“We must have a person acting while we go through the normal process of recruitment, selection and going back to the National Executive Council. (NEC)”
Kapavore said the NEC had also decided to readvertise the position of Petroleum secretary.
“We will allow Kepsy (Puiye) to continue to act, while we allow for this position to be advertised,” he said.
He also said Western and Chimbu remained without permanent provincial administrators.
Kapavore said the appointment of a Western provincial administrator remained on the drawing board.
“I will not say anything on this. We will have to discuss this with the (Western) Governor (Taboi Awi Yoto) first.”
He said the Simbu administrator’s position was also on the “market”. Joseph Kunda Naur remains acting provincial administrator.
