THE injection of K5 million into football – in particular the National Soccer League – has heralded the new era of football in the country.

The man who single handedly pioneered NSL over the past seven years, John Kapi Natto, described the massive financial support from the government as a massive blessing for PNG soccer.

He commended two government ministers Ben Micah and Justin Taktchenko for the support.

“Football in this country cannot go forward and see success unless adequate funding is given. This is the way to go forward in football. ben micah and Justin Tkatchenko have set the example, and the football fraternity salutes them both,” he said.

Kapi Natto who is a former PNGFA vice-president only regretted that he did not receive this kind of support in his time as chairman.

“As I look back on my seven years in the NSL, we worked hard to get things off the ground and maintain it.

“It was tough but sacrifices were made to get the National Soccer League to where it is today. I wish I had this type of money in the past, football would be at its best now,” Kapi Natto said.
