SP Hunters prop Epel Kapinias is excited to be part of the pre-season training camp with the aim of maintaining his fitness and staying injury-free for next season in the Queensland Intrust Super Cup.
The Rabaul Guria was unable play in every match last season due to an ankle injury, but he made a comeback in the last two rounds.
“I am happy to be back with my teammates,” Kapinias said.
“We’re looking forward to the challenges that are ahead of us.
“We are expecting something new that will come about in our training every afternoon.
“But it all depends on every single one of us to put every effort into training.”
The Kokopo Muruks junior described his 2021 season as challenging due to the injury that affected his performance in a campaign that saw the Hunters finish 10th on the 14-team ladder.
“My concern at the moment is to stay focused and keep improving my skills and doing the little things right,” Kapinias said.
“Hopefully, I can have an injury-free season.”
Meanwhile, Kapinias and fellow Guria Wartovo Puara Jr welcomed club rookies Nathan Tente and Liam Joseph to the South Pacific Brewery-sponsored Hunters.
They said the pair deserved the call-up for their consistency all season in the Digicel Cup this year.
“This is another level of training, so it all depends on them putting in every effort in training,” Puara said.
“They will look up to us as role models as they look to make a name for themselves.”
