AN academic in Maprik, East Sepik, has applauded the move by Maprik MP Gabriel Kapris to lead his People’s Action Party members into the government ranks after long discussions with Sir Michael Somare.
Brian Waranduo said Kapris had acted for the good of his people to continue delivering impact projects by teaming with the leadership to provide ideas for change.
He said the country needed leaders who could make better decisions for the silent majority that enjoyed the benefits of development and services a visionary leader brought to his people.
Waranduo said in his capacity as a cabinet minister in the former government, Kapris had negotiated impact projects like the five-star Casino Hotel and the Pacific Marine Industrial Zone (PMIZ) that would benefit the country in terms of internal revenue and employment opportunities and he should be in government to see these projects come true.
Waranduo was responding to recent media reports criticising Kapris for crossing the floor to government ranks early this month.
He said people should improve their level of comprehension on issues before commenting in public and not speak on issues that they were not well-versed with to destroy a leader’s credibility for their own personal gain.
Waranduo said the silent majority of the people of Maprik had appreciated the level of leadership demonstrated by Kapris and his potential to make Maprik the leading district in development over the last one and half term in parliament.
