POLICE believe convicted criminal and prison escapee William Nanua Kapris is  hiding in either the National Capital District or Central.

NCD-Central commander Jim Andrews said last night that police were concentrating their hunt around the Laloki area in Central and Gerehu in NCD.

“We have received some intelligence reports on the whereabouts of Kapris and Raphael Walimini and we are investigating,” he said.

“We believe Kapris has not gone out of NCD or Central.”

Andrews appealed to the public to be patient with police who have been instructed to search all suspicious-looking vehicles.

NCD metropolitan commander Supt Andy Bawa added: “We have some information and we are working on it.”

Police have renewed their appeal for the public to come forward with information on Kapris and Walimini.

A third escapee, Michel Warangu, suffered fatal wounds when the trio was cornered in a shootout with police hours after they escaped from Bomana Prison last Tuesday.

Police believe Kapris is also wounded as the result of  shootout before fleeing.

The men escaped from Bomana, allegedly with the assistance of a female prison worker. A media report said a reward for their recapture would be announced soon.

Kapris was serving a 30-year term for armed robbery while Walimini and Warangu were serving life terms for murder.
