Kapua advance to grand final

KAPUA advanced to Saturday’s men’s reserve grand final after a straight-sets win over Gereka Gig in their DataCo Cup semifinal at the Sir John Guise Stadium Indoor Complex on Friday.
Second placed Gereka, however, reached the grand final after beating Hua in the preliminary final.
Kapua proved too strong with David Lohia and Kelly Samof providing cover against Gereka and dominating for three sets.
The women’s semifinals saw Gereka edge Hua 3-2 for a spot in the grand final against Kapua.
Gereka’s Maggie Keneke and Henao Pat set the pace for their side as the dominated the opening two sets but a strong comeback from Hua saw them bag sets three and four.
Keneke and Beverly Joseph hit back in the fifth set with Gereka coming out victors 25-21.
Manubada Volleyball Association president Kidu Morea confirmed that the men’s premier division had one washout match to play before the semifinals on Wednesday.
“The finals for the men’s reserve and women’s division are confirmed for Saturday,” he said.
“The progress of teams has been a pleasure to watch.” In the semifinals for the men’s premier division, Gereka beat Kapua and are on standby for the final while Kapua will face Team Bross on Wednesday.
