GEREHU Stage Two Flash Drive Lions walked out of Gerehu touch finals contention on Sunday with their heads high after a hard-fought come-from-behind 6-4 deficit to level 6-6 at fulltime.
The match was eventually awarded to Kaputs Maleo Eels for scoring the first points, opened with Maleos’ Recky Andrew touching down in the first seven minutes.
Junior Kun converted for a 6-0 lead but an unconverted try on halftime hooter to Lions’ winger Wela Richards for a 6-4 score set the scene for an entertaining second half.
The second half saw both sides set the pace against each other and sensing the urgency for immediate points but Lions five-eighth Vai Vai sneaked a field goal over to bridge the gap to one point (6-5).
Halfback Joebilly Soiait again sailed another one-pointer over with three minutes to go, locking scores at 6-6 and the scores remained till full time.
With the game on the ropes, both defence held on for a drawn extra time, and  the match was awarded to the Eels.
