KARANAS will be out to prove they are the team to beat in the Lae Softball grand final tomorrow.
They face Marlins in the men’s A grade match this weekend.
After last weekend 3-2 win over Island Salvage Manolos, Karanas are looking forward to maintaining that form to take them all the way through.
With Peter Simon on the pitching mound and his ever-reliable catcher David Karani Jr they should be able to contain the Marlins’ batters.
With senior players Laku William, Mark Ilam, David Kauke and Matana brothers, Francis and Simon, they should have a good day with the bat.
Marlins boast of seasoned campaigners in the likes of Mark “Masalai’ Simon, pitcher Paul Keleu, John Kiapen, Hatzel Omae, Raymond Manub, Ralph Mukiu  and the Malum brothers, Daniel and Charlie, to lead their team to victory.
Alois Valuka has improved through the season and will be assisting his teammates in fielding and batting.
The pitcher-catcher combination of Keleu and Kiapen, seems solid and should cause havoc for the Karanas’ batters.
Karanas, with the return of Nigel Andy and former PNG high jumper Sandy Katusele, should be a boost to the side.
In the men’s B grade, Marlins face Manolos, while in the women’s A grade, Manolos meet Stormez and Jets clash with Manolos in the women’s B grade.
The games will start at 10.30am.
