TWO PNG weightlifters have been named in the Oceania squad to compete at the Australian Olympic Youth Festival in Sydney in January.
Noumea-based lifter and London Olympian Steven Kari will compete in the 85kg division while Sandra Ako will compete in the women’s 69kg division.
According to the Oceania Weightlifting Federation (OWF) secretary Paul Coffa, the team were endorsed unanimously at the London Olympic Games during the federation’s meeting.
The OWF squad: Elson Brechtefeld – Nauru (62kg), Otang Karitema  – Kiribati (77kg), Steven Kari – PNG (85kg), Petunu OPELOGE – Samoa (105kg).
Women: Arieta Mudunavoce – Fiji (58kg), Mathlynn Robert-Sasser – Marshall Islands (58kg), Fakaola Tuipoloti – Tonga (63kg), Sandra Ako – PNG (69kg).
The officials are  Paul Coffa, Jerry Wallwork and Tressa Lolohea.
